본 연구의 목적은 공격행동을 보이는 청소년기 자폐성장애 학생의 어머니를 대상으로 자녀의 공격행동으로 인해 가족이 겪는 어려움과 지원 요구를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 자료 수집을 위해 개별 면담을 실시하였고, 공격행동을 보이는 청소년기 자폐성장애 학생 어머니 3명이 연구에 참여하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구에 참여한 어머니들은 자녀의 공격행동을 통제하는데 어려움을 느끼고 있었고, 공격행동이 예측 불가능하게 발생되어 공포감을 느끼기도 하였다. 둘째, 자녀의 공격행동으로 인해 부모뿐만 아니라 비장애형제 등 가족 모두가 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 셋째, 특수교육 기관을 통해 자녀의 공격행동에 대한 중재 및 가족지원 프로그램을 제공받았지만 실질적인 도움이 되지 못하였다고 하였다. 마지막으로, 어머니들은 공격행동을 보이는 청소년기 자폐성장애 학생의 가족을 위한 실질적이고 체계적인 지원을 기대하고 있었다. 본 연구에서는 공격행동을 보이는 자폐성장애 학생의 가족을 위해 공격행동에 관한 상황별 맞춤 관리 및 부모교육 제공, 가족을 위한 심리·정서 지원 프로그램 제공, 그리고 가족지원을 위한 전문인력 양성의 필요성을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study was to explore the difficulties and needs among mothers of students with autism spectrum disorders who demonstrated aggressive behaviors. This study conducted individual interview with three mothers of students with autism spectrum disorders. First, the mothers reported difficulty controlling their children's aggressive behaviors and fears that unintended aggressive behaviors occurred unpredictably. Second, the family members also reported challenges and difficulties regarding how to deal with aggressive behaviors of students with autism spectrum disorders. Third, it was reported that the behavioral interventions and family support programs provided by special education institutions were not of practical help. Last, participants shared their needs for the practical and systematic supports for families of students with autism spectrum disorders. Implications for future studies are discussed.
