은유(metaphor) 분석을 통한 유아교사의 유아평가에 대한 인식

Early Childhood Teachers’ Perceptions about the Assessment of Young Children Based on Metaphor Analysis

연구목적: 이 연구는 유아교육현장에서 놀이와 배움을 연결하는 평가를 실행해야 하는 교사들의 평가실천을 이해하고 지원 방안을 모색하기 위하여 유아교사의 유아평가에 대한 인식을 조사하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 유아평가에 대해 은유로 표현하고 그 이유를 작성하게 하는 개방형 문항으로 수집된 93부의 유아교사 기록물에 대해 개념별 범주화를 실시하고, 범주 내 빈도와 백분율을 산출하는 정량분석과 의미를 도출하는 정성분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 은유분석 결과 4개의 범주 속에 10개의 개념이 도출되었는데, ‘평가의 목적’이라는 범주 속에 ‘유아의 현재 이해’, ‘유아의 변화 이해’라는 개념이 ‘평가의 문제’ 범주 속에 ‘표준화된 평가의 한계’, ‘평가자 오류’, ‘평가의 실천적 어려움’이, ‘평가의 필요성’ 범주 속에 ‘평가의 중요성’, ‘평가의 양면성’, ‘평가의 불필요’ 개념이, ‘평가결과의 활용’이라는 범주 속에 ‘유아성장의 지원’, ‘부모와의 소통’이라는 개념이 유목화 되었다. 논의 및 결론: 교사들의 유아평가에 대한 인식을 통해 현재 유아평가의 위치를 짚어보면서, 유아평가의 가치를 발견하고 유아평가의 방향성을 논하였다.

Purpose: This study was to investigate the perceptions on assessment of young children by early childhood teachers in order to understand the assessment practice of teachers who need to implement assessments of connecting play and learning in the field of early childhood education and to seek support plans. Method: An open-ended questionnaire containing metaphors and reasons for assessing young children was collected, and the responses were classified and categorized. Quantitative analysis to calculate frequency and percentage within categories and qualitative analysis to derive meaning were performed. Results: As a result of metaphor analysis, 10 concepts were derived in 4 categories. The concepts of 'understanding children' and 'understanding children's changes' fell into the category of 'purpose of assessment', and 'limitation of standardized evaluation', 'evaluator error' and 'practical difficulty of assessment' belonged to category of 'issues of assessment'. In the 'necessity of assessment' category, the concepts of 'importance of assessment', 'double-sidedness of assessment' and 'unnecessariness of assessment' were classified, while the concepts of 'support for children growth' and 'communication with parents' were in the category of 'utilization of assessment results'. Conclusion: By studying the current position of assessment for young children through teachers' perception, the value of assessment in early childhood education was discovered and the direction of assessment for young children was discussed.
