On the development of a new form foreign language textbook in Chinese Universities: a case study of Korean

Korean being the largest one among non-universal languages, the design of its textbook is more representative than that of foreign language textbooks. However, at present, the improvement and upgrading for Korean majors in Chinese universities are still in the initial stage compared with other majors; and solutions to this problem are mostly limited to the improvement based on the paper version of textbooks. Through the analysis of seven kinds of courses offered by Korean majors in Chinese universities, this study concludes that there are common problems in Korean textbooks, such as poor timeliness, single media, insufficient interactivity and so on. Therefore, based on traditional foreign language courses applied to online and offline learning, this study puts forward an idea of electronic teaching material platform and builds a web-based electronic textbooks for Korean major relying on characteristics and advantages of the web page.
