‘­다고’ 구문에 대한 말뭉치 기반 연구

A corpus based study on ‘-다고’ constructions

이 글에서는 말뭉치 용례를 기반으로 문법화 과정에 있다고 생각되는 ‘-다고’의 쓰임과 특징을 공시적으로 분석하고 기술하였다. ‘-다고’는 인용 표지, 연결어미, 종결어미의 기능을 가지는데 이러한 기능들을 총체적으로 살피되 중간적 용법을 중심으로 이들 세 기능의 관련성을 기술하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 인용 표지로 쓰인 경우에는 상위문 서술어의 유형에 따라 나누어 살폈고 이를 통해 융합이 주로 의미가 퇴색된 ‘하다’에서 두드러지게 나타난다는 점, 인지 동사 구문의 가정적 용법과 연결 어미의 양보적 용법이 관련성이 있다는 점 등을 밝혔다. 이를 토대로 연결어미가 가진 목적·이유, 양보가 서로 다른 ‘-다고 하다’ 구문에서 발전했을 가능성을 지적하고 그 과정을 보였다. 종결어미 용법 역시 인용 표지 용법에서 발달한 것과 의문 종결어미 용법에서 발달한 것, 관용적으로 쓰이던 후행절의 의미가 전이된 용법 등으로 나누어 서로 다른 문법화 과정의 산물일 가능성을 보였다.

This study analyzed and described various uses and characteristics of ‘-dago’ in the grammaticalization process based on corpus use. ‘-dago’ has the function of a quotation mark, a connective ending, and a final ending. The purpose of this study is to examine these functions collectively and describe the intermediate usage and relevance among them. Through this, it was shown that there were uses that were not covered in detail in previous studies, and the characteristics were described to examine the relationship with existing uses. Furthermore, it pointed out the possibility that the purpose, reason, and concession of the connective ending developed in different phrases and showed the process. The use as a final ending also showed the possibility of being a product of different grammaticalization processes.
