아동 탐구의 교육적 함의

The Educational Implication of Exploring Children: Focusing on ‘Anthropologie des Kindes’ of Langeveld.

본 연구는 랑에펠트의 ‘어린이 인간학’을 중심으로 교육과 관련하여 아동을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과는 5가지 주제로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 첫째, 아동은 환경에 의하여 일방적으로 영향을 받지 않고 스스로의 결단에 의하여 ‘상황’을 창조하는 존재이다. 둘째, 발달은 아동에서 어른의 상태로 변화하는 것을 의미한다. 아동의 ‘발달’은 자연적으로 주어지는 것이 아니라, 성취해야 할 과제이다. 셋째, 아동의 발달은 곧 ‘탐구’의 역사이다. 아동은 탐구를 기반으로 하여 자신의 고유한 인격을 형성해 나간다. 넷째, 아동은 ‘신체’를 매개로 하여 사물을 탐구할 뿐만 아니라, 사물에 투영된 자신의 모습을 경험한다. 다섯째, ‘사물’은 아동을 유인(誘因)하는 힘을 가지며, 사물의 의미는 아동에게 무한정으로 열려있다. 따라서 사물에 대한 고정관념의 전수보다는, 얼마나 아동이 사물을 창의적으로 경험하는지가 교육적으로 매우 중요하다. ‘교육’은 이상에서 5가지 주제로 나누어 파악한 아동의 특징들의 근간(根幹)을 이루고 있다. 아동은 본질적으로 ‘교육되지 않으면 안 되는 존재’이다. 아동과 어른을 가를 수 있는 거의 유일한 기준이 있다면, 그것은 바로 교육되었는지 여부일 것이다.

This study explored children in related to education, focusing on ‘Anthropologie des Kindes’ of Langeveld. The research results can be divided into five topics. First, children are beings who are not unilaterally affected by the environment and create ‘situation’ through their own decisions. Second, Development means changing from a child's state to an adult's state. Children's ‘development’ is not naturally given, but a task to be achieved. Whether or not to perform the task can give a child a sense of incompetence or pride. Third, the development of children is the history of ‘exploration’. Children build their own personality based on inquiry. Fourth, children not only explore objects through ‘body’, but also experience their own appearance projected on objects. Fifth, ‘object’ has the power to attract children, and the meaning of objects is indefinitely open to children. Therefore, rather than stereotypes about objects, it is more important educationally how children experience things creatively. It is ‘education’ that forms the basis for the characteristics of children identified by dividing them into five themes above. Children are essentially ‘must-be-educated beings’. Education is almost the only criterion that can distinguish between children and adults.
