다문화 담론으로서 선교교육의 패러다임 변화에 관한 연구: WCC의 선교 이해를 중심으로

A Study on the Paradigm Shift of Multicultural Education in Mission: Focusing on the WCC’s Understanding of Mission

연구 목적 본 연구의 목적은 다문화 담론의 맥락에서 선교의 개념 변화를 WCC의 공식문서를 중심으로 성찰하는 것이었다. 연구 내용 본 연구는 세 가지의 주제를 탐색하였다. 첫째, 다종교 시대에서의 다문화 선교의 의미와 함께 다문화교육이론을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 선교의 개념이 WCC의 역사를 통해 어떻게 변화되어 왔는지 살펴보았다. 셋째, 본 논의가 한국교회의 다문화 선교교육에 어떤 시사점을 찾을 수 있을지 탐색하였다. 결론 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교회에서의 다문화 논의는 기독교의 복음 선교와 밀접히 연결되어 있음이 발견되었다. 따라서 한국교회가 다문화 선교교육을 부차적인 교회 활동으로 간주하는 것은 큰 오류이며, 오히려 교회의 본질은 선교에 있다는 인식하에 한국교회는 다문화 선교교육에 더욱 큰 관심을 둘 필요가 있다. 둘째, 다문화 선교는 곧 종교 간의 대화와 긴밀히 연결되어 있음으로, 다문화 선교교육은 상호문화주의 및 종교간교육의 맥락에서 더욱 확대될 필요가 있다. 셋째, 선교의 의미가 에큐메니컬 운동의 전개와 더불어 다양한 의미로 확대되고 있음이 확인되었다. 특히 ‘하나님의 선교’ 개념이 등장한 이래로 그 의미는 가난한 자의 우선적 선택, 주변성의 선교, 그리고 생태환경을 포함한 온 생명의 살림 등 다양한 의미로서 더욱 풍성해지고 있다. 따라서 한국교회의 다문화 선교교육은 이러한 의미들을 모두 포함하는 보다 통전적인 방향으로 나갈 필요가 있다. 넷째, 한국교회는 남북한의 분단과 이주민 및 가나안 신자의 폭발적인 증가 등을 고려하여 환대의 영성에 기반한 다문화 선교교육이 필요하다.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to reflect the conceptual change of mission in the context of multicultural discourse under WCC’s official documents. CONTENTS To accomplish this, this study explores three different subjects. First, this study observes the significance of multicultural education in mission. Second, it narrates how the concept of mission has changed throughout the history of WCC. Third, it explores how the discourse could be implied in the multicultural education in mission of Korean Church. RESULTS The results of this study are as follows. First, multicultural discourse of church is connected to the mission. Therefore, it is an error for Korean church to regard multicultural education in mission as a secondary activity of church. Second, as multicultural mission is closely related to interreligious dialogue, multicultural education in mission must be expanded in the context of interreligious education. Third, the significance of mission is expanding into different dimensions along with the development of ecumenical activities such as a preferential option for the poor, marginality, recovery of all living things including environment, and more. Fourth, Korean church needs multicultural education in mission based on spirituality of hospitality in consideration of the division of Korean peninsula and rapid growth of immigrants and non-churchgoers.
