화이트헤드의 과정철학과 범재신론: 동학의 신관 해석을 중심으로

Whitehead’s Process Philosophy and Panentheism: Focusing on the Concept of Donghak’s God

연구 목적 본 연구의 목적은 화이트헤드의 과정철학과 범재신론을 통해서 동학의 신관의 특성을 검토하는 데 있다. 범재신론은 유신론과 범신론을 비판적으로 종합한 것으로 신의 초월성과 내재성을 동시에 인정하는 이론을 말한다. 연구 내용 첫째, 화이트헤드의 과정철학의 특성을 합생과 이행의 개념을 중심으로 제시하였다. 둘째, 그의 과정철학과 관련하여 범재신론의 구조적 특성을 원초적 본성과 결과적 본성이라는 신의 양극성을 중심으로 논의하였다. 셋째, 화이트헤드의 범재신론에 근거하여 동학의 신관의 특성을 논의하였다. 결론 첫째, 화이트헤드의 범재신론은 원초적 본성과 결과적 본성의 개념적 분석을 통해 유기체적이며 우주론적인 신관을 보여주었다. 둘째, 동학의 신관을 범재신론으로 해석한 것은 문화적 배경의 차이와 언어적 한계에도 불구하고 동학 신관의 민중성과 역사성을 보여준다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to critically examine Panentheism, which is attracting attention as the concept of Donghak’s God. Panentheism is a theory that recognizes the transcendence and immanence of God at the same time through the critical synthesis of theism and pantheism. CONTENTS First, the characteristics of Whitehead's process philosophy were presented, focusing on the concepts of concurrence and transition. Second, in relation to his process philosophy, the structural characteristics of panentheism were discussed centering on the polarity of God, the original nature and the consequent nature. Third, based on Whitehead's panentheism, the characteristics of the concept of Donghak’s God were discussed. RESULTS First, Whitehead's panentheism showed an organic and cosmological concept of God through conceptual analysis of primordial nature and consequential nature. Second, the interpretation of Donghak's concept of God as panentheism is meaningful in that it shows the popular and historic nature of Donghak's concept of God despite the difference in cultural background and linguistic limitations.
