Reflective Understanding of My Solo Exhibition Experience

이 연구는 2022년 9월 28일부터 10월 4일까지 열린 개인전 실행 경험을 반성적으로 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 하나의 시간적 연속성을 가지는 이 경험은 작품 제작과 준비 에서 개인전 실행 그리고 그 결과를 정리하여 도록을 제작한 후속 활동으로 구성된다. 이 가운데 개인전 기간 7일과 작품설치에 연구의 초점을 두었다. 자신의 경험을 반추하 여 살펴보면서 미술가, 미술교육자로써 스스로 깨닫게 된 점은 개인전 실행이 표면적 으로 보면 미술작품을 만들어 관람객에서 선보이는 사적인 차원의 일이지만 결국은 나 의 이야기를 구성하는 일이면서 나와 나 자신의 대화, 세상과 나의 끊임없는 대화인 공 적인 차원의 일이라는 점이다. 즉 본 연구의 시사점은 궁극적으로 예술 활동과 교육 활동은 둘 다 의미를 만들어가는 내러티브적 대화이고 이 둘은 근원적으로 맞닿아 있다 는 점이다.

This article is intended to reflect upon my solo exhibition held between September 28 and October 4, 2022. This experience’s temporal continuity comprises preparing artworks, running the solo exhibition, and making an art brochure after the exhibition. Especially, the seven days of the solo exhibition and installation art are the main focus. What I, an artist and an art educator, realized by myself by reflecting upon the experience is: though running the solo exhibition may seem like a personal matter of making artworks and exhibiting them to the audience, it is eventually making my own story a public matter as a continued conversation between myself and with the world. Thus, this research ultimately gives implications: artistic activities and educational activities are narrative conversations to make their own meanings; and they are originally linked with each other.
