연금술 과정을 통한 개성화의 이해: 현자의 장미원과 타로를 중심으로

Understanding of individuation through the process of alchemy: Focus on the rosary of the philosophers and tarot

본 연구를 통해 연금술 변형과정의 상징을 담고 있는 현자의 장미원과 타로에 나타난 개성화 과정을 살펴보았다. 나아가 현자의 장미원과 타로에 나타난 상징을 탐색하고 이를 비교 분석함으로써 개성화 과정에 대한이해를 돕고자 하였다. 현자의 장미원과 타로는 공통적으로 재생 혹은 부활을 상징하고 있으며 이는 외적 인격의 발달 뿐만 아니라 내적 인격의 통합, 이를 위한 내적 퇴행의 필요성을 의미한다. 따라서 시작, 1차 완성,2차 완성(재생 혹은 부활)을 의미하는 도판과 그림을 비교함으로써 연금술의 의미와 개성화의 의미를 찾아보고자하였다. 인간의 마음은 완벽하게 정의되거나 설명될 수 없기 때문에, 상징적 언어나 이미지를 사용하며 따라서이를 해석함으로써 인간은 마음에 대한 이해를 증진할 수 있고 나아가 개성화 과정을 이룰 수 있다. 이러한연금술적 상징들은 인간의 꿈이나 다양한 예술 작품에서도 찾아볼 수 있다. 따라서 이와 같은 연금술적 상징의해석에 대한 연구의 필요성을 제언하였다.

Through this study, the individuation process shown in the rosary of the philosophers andtarot, which contains the symbol of the alchemy transformation process, was examined. Furthermore, tried to help the understanding of the process of individuation by exploring thesymbols in the rosary of the philosophers and tarot and comparing and analyzing them. Therosary of the philosophers and tarot present regeneration or resurrection in common, whichmeans not only the development of external personality but also the integration of internalpersonality and the necessity of internal regression for this. Therefore, this study tried tofind the meaning of alchemy and individuation by comparing the print with the drawing, whichmeans the beginning, the first completion, and the second completion(regeneration orresurrection). Since the human mind cannot be perfectly defined or explained, by using andinterpreting symbolic language or images, humans can enhance their understanding of the mindand further achieve the process of individuation. These alchemical symbols can also be foundin human dreams and various works of art. Therefore, we suggested that a follow-up studyon the interpretation of these alchemical symbols is needed.
