Bourdieu's Theory of Practice and the Dynamics of Behavior and Structure: Focusing on the Concept of Habitus

이 논문의 목적은 피에르 부르디외(Pierre Bourdieu)가 제시하는 아비투스 개념 분석에 근거해서 주체의 자율성과 구조결정론에 대한 변증법적 접근 가능성을 비판적으로 평가하고, 이를 매개로 교육적 주체 형성의 요건을 탐색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 첫째, 부르디외 실천이론의 구성적 토대로서 이원적 사유모델의 극복 논리와 주요 전제들을 검토하고, 둘째, 부르디외의 이론적 논거 위에서‘아비투스’ 개념의 체계와 역사적·이론적 특성을 비판적으로 분석하였다. 셋째, 부르디외가 실천의 논리로서 제시하는 핵심 개념들, 즉 장-아비투스-자본 간의 내적 관계와 일반적 속성들, 상호 역동관계를 면밀히 점검하고, 넷째, 장(champ)의 동인과 역학을 추동하는 위상학적 공간의 차원에서 구조적 동형성, 상징투쟁, 전략의 생산 논리를 조명하였다. 다섯째, 이와 같은 논의들을 종합하여 본 연구의 문제 설정의 지반, 즉 주체의 자율성과 구조결정론의 변증법적 접근의 가능성을 장의 동인과‘변화의 조건’이라는 차원에서 주요 논제들을 도출하였다. 연구 결과, 부르디외의 실천이론에서 주체의 해방과 변동의 동학을 논하기 위한 전제로서 (1) 행위자와 사회구조가 변증법적으로 변화의 근원을 제공하는 조건 세 가지와, (2) 이 연구의 핵심 과제인 주체의 자율성과 구조결정론의 변증법적 접근을 모색할 수 있는 가능성 세 가지를 도출하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구가 도출한 결과와 비판적 검토를 토대로, 이것이 교육적 주체 형성의 문제를 탐구하고 정교화하는 데 있어 생산적인 분석틀로 기능할 수 있는 시사점을 확장적으로 논의하였다.

This study evaluates dialectical approach to the subject's autonomy and structural determinism based on the habitus concept analysis proposed by Pierre Bourdieu. The requirements for educational subject formation are also examined accordingly. To this end, the overcoming logic and major premises of the dualistic model of thought as the constitutive foundation of Bourdieu's theory of practice are analyzed. This is followed by the analysis of the concept of 'habitus' and its historical and theoretical characteristics based on Bourdieu's theoretical grounds. Then the core concepts proposed by Bourdieu as the logic of practice, that is, the internal relationship between field-habitus-capital, general properties, and mutual dynamics were closely examined. The production logic of structural isomorphism, symbolic struggle, and strategy is clarified in the dimension of topological space that drives field drivers and dynamics. Finally, by putting together these discussions, the basis for setting the problem of this study, that is, the autonomy of the subject and the possibility of a dialectical approach of structural determinism, was derived from the main themes in terms of the driver of the field and “conditions for change”. As a premise for discussing the dynamics of liberation and change in the subject in Bourdieu's theory of practice, this study derived (1) three conditions under which actors and social structures dialectically provide the source of change; and (2) three possibilities designed to seek the dialectical approach of autonomy of the subject and structural determinism, which are were the core tasks of this study. Lastly, the results derived from this study and the results of the critical review are were extensively discussed in terms of the implications that can function as a productive framework for exploring and elaborating the problem of educational subject formation.
