As an important issue in the ancient Chinese thought system, the question of form and spirit is also one of the focal points of debate among philosophers of various schools in the history of Chinese and Western philosophy, and has always attracted people's attention. In ancient China, the development of the concept of form and spirit has gone through a complex and changeable process. The discussion on the relationship between form and spirit started from the pre-Qin period around the composition of form and spirit and the combination and separation of form and spirit, and then focused on “form” and “spirit” during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties What is the primary distinction between form and spirit, reaching its peak in the struggle between “the theory of the extinction of the gods and the theory of the indestructibility of the gods”. The ancient Chinese theomorphology was fully developed, continuously extended and deepened in the wave-like development process, and the understanding of the relationship between form and spirit also reached a height close to scientific understanding in the general law of criticism and inheritance.
