After the independence of Southeast Asian countries after World War II, locals took control of the country. They then prevent the overseas Chinese from continuing to occupy superior economic positions. Therefore, Southeast Asian countries rejected and suppressed overseas Chinese by all means. Things have become very complicated since China split into the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China. The Republic of China, which was pushed to Taiwan, continued to maintain the Nationality Act, which was revised and promulgated during the Nanjing government in 1929. However, the People's Republic of China will adopt a policy that does not recognize dual citizenship. The Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, promulgated on September 1, 1980, stipulated that the Chinese people do not recognize dual citizenship. Based on these regulations, Korean residents living abroad with Chinese nationality on hold were referred to as overseas Chinese. And overseas Chinese automatically lost their Chinese citizenship. They were referred to as Chinese or foreign Chinese or Chinese.
