탈시설화에 관한 장애인과 거주시설 종사자의 내러티브 분석

Narrative Analysis of Persons with Disabilities and Residential Institution Workers on Deinstitutionalization

연구목적: 본 연구는 탈시설화를 바라보는 장애인과 거주시설 종사자의 내러티브를 파악하여 장애인 탈시설화와 관련해 들려지지 않았던 목소리를 드러내기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구방법: 본 연구의 연구방법은 재가 장애인, 시설 장애인, 거주시설 종사자 각 1명씩 총 3명을 대상으로 개별 심층인터뷰를 진행하였고, 내러티브 분석 기법을 활용하였다. 연구결과: 연구참여자인 세 명의 연구 주체들로부터 도출된 내러티브를 고찰한 결과, 3개의 중심주제와 7개의 핵심범주, 24개의 하위범주가 형성되었으며, 각 범주별로 다양하고 생생한 내러티브들이 구성되었다. 연구참여자들이 바라보는 탈시설화에 대한 생각은 ‘장애 현실을 감내하고 살아내기’, ‘시설과 탈시설 사이에서의 혼미(昏迷)’, ‘탈시설화를 향한 발걸음’으로 주제화되었다. 연구참여자 3명이 각각 경험이 다른 만큼 거주시설과 탈시설화를 바라보는 시선과 입장이 달랐지만 장애인이 우리 사회에서 주체적인 삶을 살아갈 수 있는 진정한 탈시설화를 위해 개인과 사회 모두가 노력해야 한다는 점을 공유하고 있었다. 제언: 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 장애인 탈시설화 방향에 대해 실천적·정책적 제언과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

This study conducted individual in-depth interviews with a total of three study participants, one for each of the disabled person living in the community, the disabled person living in an institution, and the residential institution worker, to identify the narratives of the disabled people and the residential institution worker looking at deinstitutionalization and reveal the voices that couldn't be heard. As a result of examining the narratives derived from the three research subjects who were the study participants, 3 central themes, 7 core categories, and 24 subcategories were formed, and various vivid narratives according to each category were dervied. The thoughts on deinstitutionalization viewed by the study participants were thematically categorized as ‘trying to live with the reality of disability’, ‘confusion between institution and deinstitution’, and ‘steps towards deinstitutionalization’. As each of the three study participants supports the disabled in residential facilities or has different experiences living in residential facilities or communities as a disabled person, they have different perspectives and positions on residential facilities and deinstitutionalization. However, they shared the point that both individuals and society need to make efforts to truly deinstitutionalization the disabled to live their independent lives in our society.
