唐 憲宗代 昭義 平定의 의의

The Significance of Suppress of the Zhaoyi Province under Tang Xianzong Reigns

昭義는 양면성을 가진 번진이었다. 즉 그 지리적 입지와 용맹한 병사를 기반으로 자칫하면 ‘할거 번진’을 모방하려고 하였지만, 반대로 조정의 명이 미칠 때는 할거 번진을 견제하는 역할을 수행하였다. 憲宗의 번진개혁이 한창 진행될 때 昭義節度使 盧從史는 전자를 지향하다가 당군의 은밀한 계책으로 사로잡혀 제거되었다. 이후 소의는 조정에 순종하는 번진이 되어 헌종의 번진개혁에 여러 가지 역할을 수행하였는데, 여기에는 헌종이 노종사를 제거하면서 얻은 소의의 인적 자원, 특히 烏重胤의 활약도 주목된다. 만약 노종사가 제거되지 않았다면 소의는 번진개혁의 장애가 되었을 뿐 아니라 당조가 오중윤과 같은 장수와 ‘용맹한 병졸’을 얻을 수 없었을 것이다.

The Zhaoyi was the ambilateral Province. On the one hand basing on the geographical conditions and brave soldiers it attempted to perform the role of the Autonomous Provinces, but on the other, receiving command of government it kept in check them. During the Reform of the Provinces under Tang Xianzong, Zhaoyi Military Commissioner Lu Congshi accomplished the former, but he was removed by the conspiracy of the government forces. Then, the Zhaoyi carried out compliantly many roles in the Reform of the Provinces under Tang Xianzong. But notable is the fact that individual cases were interlocked within the Tang Xianzong’s reform. Namely, his reform was prompted individually and connectedly, and suppress of the Zhaoyi Province was good examples of the latter.
