통찰문제 풀이 연습이 창의적 사고력 향상에 도움이 될 것이라는 Perkins(200I) 의 주장이 갖는 신뢰성을 검증하기 위해, 대학생들의 통찰문제 해결능력과 창의력을 측정하여 두 변인간의 상관계수를 검토하였다. Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(TICT) 로 측정된 창의력 검사 중 TICT-도형 검사점수는 제시된 통찰문제를 해결한 개수로 측정한 통찰력 점수와 무관한 것으로 드러났다. 그러나 TICT-언어검사 점수와 통찰력 점수간에는 통계적으로 유의한 상관이 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이러한 결과는 Perluns 의 주장이 전혀 근거 없는 주장은 아니라고 시사한다.
To explore the claim that practicing insight problem solving can enhance breakthrough thinl<.ing (Perl<.ins, 2001), correlations between creativity scores and insight problem solving scores of 30 college students were analyzed. Torrance Test of Creative Thinl<.ing (TICT) scores were used as creativity scores and insight problem solving scores were obtained through a test consisting of ten insight problems. While no relationships were found between TICT-figural (Form B) scores and insight problem solving scores (the number of problems solved correctly), significant correlations were found between TICT-verbal (Form B) scores and insight problems solving scores. These results suggest that insight problems can be a good tool for improving creative thinking.
