음악적 창의성은 개성 있는 음악 행위가 수용되는 자유로운 분위기 속에서 개발될수 있으며, 창의적인 음악 행위는 남과는 다른 자기 방식에 의한, 그러면서도 전통적인것으로부터 출발하여 새로운 것을 추구하는 것이다. 창의성이 뛰어난 우리의 전통음악을 초등학교 학생들은 전래동요와 민요, 장구와 단소 연주, 여러 가지 감상곡 형태로 배우고 있다. 그 중에서 초등학교 5학년부터 도입되는 단소는 초등학교 학생들에게 한국인의 독특한 정서를 몸소 체험하게 하는 좋은 교육용 국악기이다. 단소 지도 과정을 크게 기초과정, 기본 과정, 심화 과정으로 설계하고 각 과정별로 음악교육의 주요 내용인 가창, 기악, 감상, 창작 활동을 수준별로 재구성하였다. 10개의 활동 단계에서는 꼬마단소, 한글 율명, 한글정간보 등의 새로운 자료와 창의성 요소 및 사고 기법을 적용한 교수-학습 방법을 도입하였다. 이러한 일련의 교육 활동은 학생들에게는 창의적인 태도와 사고 기법을 체득하게 하여 음악을 창의적으로 표현하게 하였고, 교사에게는 창의성 음악 교육에 대한 자신감과 우리 음악의 뛰어난 창의성을 확인하게 했으며, 사회적으로는 우리 음악 생활화의 기초를 마련하는 데 기여하였다.
The musical creativity can be developed in an atmosphere of freedom that allows the idiomatic musical works. Elementary students are learning the Korean traditional music which involves outstanding creativity such as traditional children's songs, folk songs, the performance of Jangu and Danso and different kinds of impressive music styles. Among the rest, the Danso lesson starting from 5th grade is the unique Korean traditional instrument lesson that gives students great experiences. The lesson can be divided into the basic lesson, the fundamental lesson, and advanced lesson. And each part is recomposed by ability as singing, instrument, listening, creating activities which are the main part of the musical teachings. The educational activity allowed students to learn the creative attitude and thinking skills, helped the teachers to confirm the outstanding creativity of music and the confidence on the creative musical education, and did much for making the background of the musical life.
