인문사회 중심의 컴퓨테이셔널 사고력 개발을 위한 실천적 방법 탐색: 데이터 리터러시를 중심으로
Exploration of the Practical Methods for Adapting Computational Thinking to the Field of Humanities and Social Sciences: Focusing on the Concept of Data Literacy
본 연구는 인문사회 중심의 컴퓨테이셔널 사고력(CT) 개발 방법을 체계화하고 확산하기 위한 데이터 리터러시 교육 방안을 제시하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 우선, 데이터 리터러시란 전공 영역에서 문제를 발견하고 디지털 자료를 활용, 데이터로 처리 및 분석하여 해석 가능한 지식으로 변환하고 이면에 숨겨진 함의를 파악하는 역량으로 개념화하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구는 데이터 리터러시 교육이 인문사회 중심의 CT 개발에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있는 다음의 실천적 방법들을 도출했다. 첫째, 인문사회 전공 교과과정에서 다뤄지는 개념과 이론에 기초하여 문제를 제기하고 이를 해결하는 과정으로써 데이터를 활용하는 스토리텔링의 제공이다. 둘째, 소프트웨어를 구성하는 오픈소스 프로그래밍 언어의 코드와 문법 구조를 사례에 기초하여 배경을 설명하고 문제 해결에 적용하는 워크플로우의 개발과 공유이다. 셋째, 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스에 기반하여 체계적인 사용이 편리한 데이터 분석 소프트웨어의 개발과 튜토리얼 제작이다. 넷째, 지속 가능한 데이터 리터러시 교육 방안의 마련과 효과적인 운영에 필요한 행정 업무와 재정을 지원하는 대학과 정책담당자와의 협력관계 조성이다. 끝으로, 인문사회 중심의 CT 개발은 학제간 물리적 결합을 넘어 유기적 연구체계에 기초한 융합 교육 환경의 구축이 필요함을 역설하고 이러한 원칙에 따라 운영되는 데이터 리터러시 교육방안을 제안했다.
This study proposes educational directions of data literacy to systemize and circulate the method of adapting computational thinking (CT) to the field of humanities and social sciences. Data literacy refers to the ability to discover problems in the major field, utilize digital traces, process and analyze them as data, transform them into interpretable knowledge, and understand the hidden implications behind the scenes. In light of this conceptualization, this study derived the following practical methods for developing and expanding data literacy. First, storytelling contents need to be developed for students to learn domain knowledge from a data analysis process. Second, it is highly needed to develop and share workflows that are applicable to problem solving based on the code and grammatical structure of the open source programming language. Third, it is needed to build a graphical user interface software for systematic and convenient data analysis. Fourth, it is needed to facilitate communication and collaboration between colleges and policy makers, which will lead to sustainable data literacy education. Finally, practical methods of data literacy education are proposed to establish the customized CT education for humanities and social sciences.
