이 연구는 시각적 단서를 활용한 이야기 지도 전략 교수가 경도 지적장애 학생들의 읽기 이해 성취도에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 읽기 이해에 어려움이 있는 특수학교 경도 지적장애 중등 학생 3명을 대상으로, 단일대상연구설계 중 하나인 대상자 간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계를 사용하였다. 중재에 사용된 전략은 그림과 이야기 문법 마커와 같은 시각적 단서를 활용한 이야기 지도 전략으로, 이야기 문법에 관한 쓰기 활동, 그래픽 조직자 활용, 읽기이해 질문에 답하는 활동을 명시적 교수 절차에 따라 지도하는 것이다. 중재는 주 5회, 매 회기마다 약 40분간 진행되었으며, 학생별로 16-17회의 중재가 실시되었다. 중재 후 모든 연구 참여자들의 읽기 이해 성취도 점수가 기초선과 비교해 크게 향상되었을 뿐만 아니라(PND 84%-100%) 중재 종료 후에도 그 효과가 유지되는 것으로 나타났다(PND 100%). 이러한 결과는 경도 지적장애 학생의 이야기 글 읽기 이해를 지도하기 위한 한 가지 방안으로 시각적 단서를 활용한 이야기 지도 전략을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증했다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구 결과의 제한점 및 향후 연구에 관한 제언이 논의되었다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of story map strategy instruction using visual cues on reading comprehension of students with mild intellectual disabilities. Three secondary special school students with mild intellectual disabilities who have difficulty in reading comprehension participated in this study and the multiple probe design across subjects was conducted. The strategy using in this study is the story map stragegy using visual cues like picture and story grammar marker. Specifically, the strategy is teaching the writing activity about story grammar, utilizing the graphic organizer, answering about the reading comprehension questions following as the process of the explicit strategy. The interventions were conducted 5 times per week for about 40 minutes, with 16-17 interventions implemented for each student. As a result, three participants’ reading comprehension scores increased right after the implementation of the intervention(PND 84%-100%) and furthermore the effect of the story map strategy using visual cues was maintained even after the interventions completed(PND 100%). These results are significant that this research developed the story map strategy using visual cues and proved the effect of the story map strategy using visual cues. Based on the results of this study, suggestions were discussed and the limitations of the study and the directions for further studies were presented.
