유치원 만 3세 유아의 '약속'에 관한 질적 연구

A qualitative research on keeping class rules in 3-year-old children

본 연구의 목적은 유치원 만 3세 유아들이 학년 초에 학급에서 지켜야 하는 약속의 종류와 교사가 ‘약속 지키기’를 지도하는데 사용하는 교수 방법을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구자들은 유아들이 약속을 경험하는 과정을 살펴보기 위해 질적 연구방법을 사용했다. 연구대상은 무지개 유치원 새싹반의 만 3세 유아 22명과 교사 2명이다. 연구결과는 첫째, 만 3세 유아들이 지켜야 하는 약속은 ‘정리·정돈하기’, ‘차례 지키기’, ‘자리 지키기’, ‘위험한 행동하지 않기’, ‘친구와 사이좋게 지내기’의 5가지로 나타났고, 이를 통해 질서, 배려, 협력, 타인 존중 등의 가치를 배워가고 있었다. 둘째, ‘약속 지키기’에 사용된 교수 방법으로 ‘지시하기’, ‘설명하기’, ‘질문하기’, ‘시범보이기’, ‘토의하기’, ‘보상하기’, ‘금지하기’의 7가지로 나타났다. 만 3세 유아들은 ‘약속 지키기’를 배우고 실행하면서 공동체 생활에 적응해가고 있었다. 본 연구의 의의는 유아교육기관 교사들에게 만 3세 유아들이 학년 초에 어떤 약속을 경험하고 지켜야하는지를 제시한 데 있다. 그리고, 연구에서 제시한 약속을 지도하기 위해 교사들이 어떤 교수 방법을 사용해야 하는지를 제안한데 있다.

The present research aimed to investigate the types of class rules 3-year-old children keep and teaching method teachers use for guiding children on how to keep these rules. A qualitative research method was chosen to examine the process where children learn and practice keeping class rules. The subjects of this research comprised 22 children of 3 years old and 2 teachers attending Saessak class at Moojigae kindergarten. The results can be summarized as follow: first, the kinds of class rules 3-year-old children should keep were "putting things in right place," "keeping order," "keeping one"s seats," "avoiding risky behaviors" and "getting along with friends." Children at Saessak class learned values such as order, consideration, cooperation and respect while keeping class rules. Second, early childhood teachers" teaching methods for guiding 3-year-old children to keep class rules were "directing," "explaining," "questioning," "demonstrating," "discussing," "tokenizing," and "prohibiting." The 3-year-old children were adjusting to community life through learning and keeping the class rules. The findings of this research gave implications on what class rules 3-year-old children should experience and keep and teaching method for instructing children how to keep class rules during early academic years.
