중등 교육 개선을 위한 사회정서역량 척도 개발: 문화예술교육에의 적용을 중심으로

A Study on the Development of a Social-Emotional Competency Scale for Secondary Education: Focused on the Arts and Culture Education

본 연구는 학교 교육에서 사회정서역량의 중요성을 논의하고, 문화예술교육이 사회정서역량의 발달에 효과적인 점을 고려하여 문화예술교육을 통한 사회정서역량의 향상을 측정할 수 있는 척도를 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 기존의 사회정서역량 척도를 문화예술교육에 적용할 수 있도록 확장된 사회정서역량 척도를 개발하고 새로 개발된 척도의 타당성을 검증하였다. 척도 개발을 위해 사회정서역량과 문화예술교육의 효과성을 중심으로 관련 문헌들을 고찰하여 문화예술교육을 통해 발달 가능한 구조 요인들을 규명하고 재범주화 하였다. 초안을 개발한 후 전문가 검토에 의한 내용타당도 검증을 거쳐 중학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문조사 응답에 대해 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하여 주요 요인을 추출하였으며 확인적 요인분석으로 타당도를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 10개 요인(43개 문항)이 추출되었으며, .945의 높은 신뢰도를 보여 적합한 척도임이 확인되었다. 추출된 10개 요인은 문화예술 감수성, 문화적 능동성, 협력적 태도, 책임감, 효과적인 의사소통, 창의성, 자기 효능감, 성장사고방식, 정서적 자기조절, 자기 존중감이다. 이 척도는 기존의 사회정서역량 척도를 문화예술교육에 적합하게 수정, 개선한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 개발된 척도는 사회정서역량의 향상을 기대하는 여러 교과에서도 적용 가능하며 이들 수업에서 척도의 활용은 교육 방법을 개선하고 교수학습의 질을 높이는데 기여할 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to develop an extended social-emotional competencies scale, which can systematically measure and evaluate Arts and Culture education. In general, Art and Culture education, which is recently becoming important in secondary education, is known to be effective in fostering social-emotional competences. To identify the structural factors developed through previous research on Arts and Culture education, related literature review was done. After a draft for the scale was made through experts’ review, questionnaire was distributed to 196 middle school students. The validity and reliability were verified through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses on the questionnaire responses. As a result of the study, the scale had 10 factors including 43 items: arts and cultural sensitivity, cultural proactivity, cooperative attitude, responsibility, effective communication, creativity, self-efficacy, growth mindset, emotional self-regulation, and self-esteem. These factors were presented as social, emotional, arts and cultural factors, with a a high reliability (⍺=.945) and an appropriate level of validity and fit. The extended social-emotional competencies scale developed in this study is an important evaluation tool for the quality of teaching and learning, and is expected to contribute to improvement of educational methods in various subject matters including arts and culture education.
