박사과정생 상담사들의 진로구성에 관한 내러티브 탐구

A Narrative Inquiry into the Career Construction of Doctoral Student Counselors

본 연구는 박사과정에서 상담을 전공한 상담사들의 진로구성에 관한 경험의 의미를 이해하고자 내러티브 탐구 방법을 사용하였다. 연구를 위해 상담을 직업으로 하는 박사과정생으로 10년 차 이상의 상담경력이 있는 3명의 연구참여자를 선정하였다. 참여자들의 진로구성 경험과 의미 분석은 Clandinin과 Connelly(1994)가 제안한 현장에 들어가기, 현장 텍스트 구성하기, 연구텍스트 구성의 단계를 적용하였다. 참여자들의 내러티브는 입문, 과정, 수료로 나누어 재구성하였다. 참여자들은 각자의 삶의 맥락에서 우연한 계기로 상담에 입문하고 삶의 길을 구하기 위해 고군분투하는 수행자와 같은 길을 걸으며 상위의 상담사로 나아가는 모습을 보여주었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 ‘우연이 만들어준 의미 추구의 길, 상담’, ‘스스로 채우는 마음의 우물, 상담’, ‘상담전문가로 나아가는 전문직 사회화 과정’의 진로구성 의미를 도출하였으며, 박사과정생 상담들의 진로구성 의미에 대한 개인적 정당성, 실제적 정당성, 사회적 정당성 등을 논의하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 함의와 제한점에 대해 제시하였다

This study used a narrative inquiry method to explore the meaning of counselors' experiences in career composition during the doctoral course. The study applied Clandinin and Connelly's (1994) steps of entering the field, constructing field texts, and constructing research texts. Participants' narratives were categorized into introductions, courses, and, completion. From the study, three main themes emerged regarding the meaning of career composition: "the path to pursuing meaning created by coincidence," "the well of mind that fills itself, counseling," and "the professional socialization process to become a counseling expert." The study discussed personal, practical, and social justifications for the meaning of career composition experiences among Ph.D. student counselors, and presented the implications and limitations of the findings.
