유아교사가 생각하는 유아의 자유에 대한 연구

A study of young children’s freedom from early childhood teachers’ perspective

본 연구는 유아의 자유에 대한 유아교사들의 생각을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 유아의 자유에 관심 있고 교육경력이 5년 이상인 현직 유아교사 5명의 연구참여자를 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 2021년 8월부터 12월까지 자료를 수집하고 분석하였으며 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 자유에 대한 유아교사의 생각으로는 유아들이 자유롭지만 또 한편으로는 결코 자유롭지 못하다고 생각하고 있었다. 둘째, 유아의 자유를 위해 교사들은 변화하고 있었으나 여전히 유아의 자유가 힘들다고 인식하고 있었다. 유아교사들의 유아의 자유에 대한 생각을 알아봄으로써 유아의 자유 그 자체로서의 가치를 재조명할 수 있었으며, 유아의 자유를 실현하기 위한 계기를 마련할 수 있었다는 데 의의가 있다.

This study aimed to investigate early childhood teachers' perspectives on the freedom of young children’s freedom. In-depth interviews were conducted with five current early childhood teachers who had five-plus years of teaching experience and were interested in young children's freedom. Data were collected and analyzed between August and December 2021, and the following results were obtained. First, the teachers believed that young children are free, but simultaneously, they lack true freedom. Second, although the teachers were changing to promote the freedom of young children’s freedom, they still perceived it as a difficult task. By exploring preschool teachers' perspectives on young children's freedom, this study highlights the value of children's freedom itself and provides an opportunity to create a catalyst for realizing that freedom. These findings have significant implications for promoting the freedom of young children in early childhood education.
