Research on Fire Safety of Display Products Installed in Transportation

디스플레이 제품은 TV, 모니터, 노트북, 태블릿, 키오스크 등 가정용/옥외용 영상 기기를 넘어서 영역을 넓혀 나가고 있다. 특히 자동차 시장에서는 전기차, 자율주행 기술이 발전하면서, 기존의 주행 정보뿐만 아니라 엔터테인먼트를 제공하는 이른바 인포테인먼트 디스플레이의 형태로 영역이 확대되고 있으며, 이러한 현상은 항공, 기차, 선박과 같은 운송수단으로 확대되고 있다. 운송수단에 설치되는 디스플레이는 단순 판매량뿐만 아니라 폼팩터의 다양화, 화면의 대형화의 형태로 진행되고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 특히 디스플레이 제품의 화재안전이 중요한 항목으로 고려되고 있다. 화재안전을 위해서 디스플레이 제품은 그 자체 원인에 의해서 발생하는 화재를 줄이는 것뿐만 아니라 화재 발생 시 화재의 확산에 기여하지 않도록 설계되어야 한다. 이 논문에서는 디스플레이 제품의 안전성을 평가하는 규격인 IEC 62368-1에서 화재 관련 요구사항인 PS(Power Energy Source) 항목과 가연성 재질의 난연성을 평가하는 규격인 IEC 60695-11-10, ISO 9772, ISO 9773, UL 94 규격, 그리고 운송수단에 설치되는 디스플레이 제품에 요구되는 화재 안전성 내용을 알아보고 디스플레이 제품의 시험 결과와 대응설계 방법을 알아본다.

Display products are expanding beyond home/outdoor video devices such as TVs, monitors, laptops, tablets, and kiosks. In particular, in the automobile market, with the development of electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology, the field is expanding to infotainment that provides entertainment as well as existing driving information and this phenomenon is expanding to transportation methods such as aviation, train and ship. Displays installed in transportation are progressing not only with simple sales volume but also with diversification of form factors and large screen sizes. In this situation, fire safety of display product is especially considered as an important item. For fire safety, display product should be designed not only to reduce likelihood of ignition caused by itself but also not to contribute to the spread of fire in the event of a fire. In this paper, we will focus on fire-related content among the safety requirements for display products installed in transportation, and examine the difference between the PS (Power Energy Source) requirements of IEC 62368-1 for the fire of the display product itself and the flammability tests of IEC 60695-11-10, ISO 9772, ISO 9773, and UL 94 for the flammability of materials. Among the safety requirements required for display products installed in transportation, we aim to find out the contents related to fire, focusing on flame retardant tests, to serve as a reference for the fire safety design of display products.
