We analyzed the physiological effects of 6 species of flowers extracts from Korean natural plants using various methods, such as the MTT assay, polyphenolics and flavonoids content analysis, DPPH radical scavenging activity analysis, nitrite scavenging activity analysis, reduction power measurement, and electron donating abilities. Hosta plantaginea flower extracts showed higher scavenging activities at a concentration of 500 μg/mL compared with the activity of other groups in DPPH analysis. Hosta plantaginea flower extracts exhibited higher reducing power. Among the five native plant flowers, Hosta plantaginea had the highest total phenolic content at 247.40 mg/g, while Indigofera pseudotinctoria had the lowest at 133.5 mg/g. Indigofera pseudotinctoria demonstrated the highest tyrosinase inhibition rate of about 89%. Cell viability analysis confirmed that the extracts at a concentration of 100 μg/mL did not affect cell viability. This study establishes the potential of native plant flowers as functional materials and provides valuable data for applied research, and the development of natural antioxidants using native plant flowers.
