학사경고자 특성 및 지원요구 분석을 통한 대학의 지원 방안 탐색

Exploring the university's support strategy based on the characteristics and needs analysis of the university students on academic probation

본 연구는 학사경고 대학생 학습자의 특성과 원인, 그리고 지원 요구에 대한 다양한 분석 결과를 기반으로 대학의 지원 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 이 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 문헌고찰, 설문조사, 심층면담이 포함된 요구분석, 전문가 자문 등의 연구방법을 적용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문헌고찰을 통해 학사경고 대학생의 특성 및 원인인 심리, 학업, 행동, 환경 요인은 직접 또는 간접적으로 상호 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다. 둘째, 설문조사를 통한 학사경고 요인은 미출석, 공부 소홀, 전공/대학에 대한 흥미 부족 순으로 나타났다. 학생들이 요구하는 지원사항으로는 학사정보(학점관리), 목표설정 및 실천, 학습전략 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 심층 면담결과, 학사경고 대학생은 방황하거나 탈출하는 방법을 찾지 못하여 학업을 포기하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 미국 M대학교의 사례를 통해 미 출석으로 인한 불이익을 방지하기 위한 대안과 어느 정도의 실수나 감점을 만회할 기회를 제공한다는 사실을 확인하였다. 이러한 분석결과를 바탕으로 학사경고자 대상 대학의 지원 방안 마련을 위한 6가지 시사점을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과를 반영한 지원 모델 및 프로그램 개발 가이드에 대한 후속연구 필요성을 제언하였다.

This study was purposed to explore the University’s support strategies based on the characteristics and needs analysis of the University students on academic probation. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, research methods such as literature review, needs analysis including questionnaire survey, in-depth interview, and case study, and subject matter expert advice were applied. The research results are as follows. First, through literature review, it was confirmed that the psychological, academic, behavioral, and environmental factors, which are the characteristics and causes of students on academic probation, directly or indirectly influence each other. Second, as a result of the survey, the causes of academic probation were found to be non-attendance, neglect of study, and lack of interest in major and/or university. As for the support items requested by the students, academic information (credit management), goal setting and practice, and learning strategy were shown in the order. Third, as a result of the in-depth interview, it was found that college students on academic probation gave up their studies because they wander or could not find a way to escape. Fourth, through the case of M University in the United States, it was confirmed that it provides an alternative to preventing disadvantages due to non-attendance and an opportunity to make up for some mistakes or deductions. Based on these analysis results, six strategies were derived for preparing support plans of universities for students on academic probation. The need for follow-up research on the academic warning student support model and program development guide reflecting the results of this study was suggested.
