This paper discussed beginning teachers' classroom experiences and their implications for fostering creativity in the Singapore's elementary schools. A report on an interview conducted with 117 beginning teachers (76.1 % female, mean age: 20-29) who taught in the elementary schools in Singapore was presented. The interview disclosed learning activities frequently employed in the everyday elementary school classroom. Results of the interview were interpreted with reference to the studies on beginning teachers' perceptions of learning activities (Tan, in press, Tan, 2001). Implications of these studies for improving the curricula of beginning teachers were presented.
