In this study, we examine divergent thinking in 82 college and university students to determine the ways in which gender and education may affect creativity of late adolescents. The Real World Divergent Thinking Tasks that include problem solving and problem finding tasks were used to assess creative thinking in real life situations. Analysis of variance results indicated that gender was not significant in influencing creative thinking abilities in real life situations. Regarding conformity of formal education, the results of this study revealed that there was no significant education effect between the college and university students on creative thinking. However, in content analyses on problem finding and problem solving, parents and siblings had a significant effect on creative thinking of college students, suggesting one of the most important social environments affecting creativity is the family.
