Background: In this study, it is necessary to understand ethical principles in order to improve judgment in ethical problem situations. Ethical values for each situational ethical problem arising in various fields are analyzed according to utilitarianism and deontology. Methods: From December 7, 2022, to January 11, 2013, 259 dental hygienists working in dental hospitals and clinics in the Seoul metropolitan area received informed consent for the study and were administered a self-administered questionnaire (using a combination of face-to-face and social network Google Forms). Results: Dental hygienists were 2.82±0.55 in the area of human life, 3.73±0.69 in the area of partnership, 3.49±0.47 in the area of dental hygiene work, and 3.20±0.41 in the area of patient relations. Conclusion: Dental hygienists showed a more obligatory position than a utilitarian position. It is necessary to emphasize the importance of ethical education and continuous self-development to properly cope with the ethical situation that occurs when performing dental hygiene work.
