본 연구는 연구자가 초보미술치료사로서 자기성찰과 자기탐색의 필요성을 느끼고, 과거에 그린 작품에 대한 반응작업을 통하여 자기 자신과 만났던 경험을 탐구한 것이다. 8년 동안 작업한 연구자의 과거 작품들 중에서 12점을 소환하고, 그 작품들에 대한 반응작업으로 제작한 작품 중에서 5점을 선정해서 그 작품들과 대화를 시도하였으며, 과거의 작품과 작가 노트를 새로운 관점으로 재해석하고 탐색하여 개인 분석과정의 질문들에 대해 답을 하였다. 여기에는 질적 연구 방법인 내러티브 연구 방법을 적용하였다. 연구자는 이러한 연구 과정을 진행하면서 과거의 작품에 표출된 자신의 모습을 알아차림을 통하여 통찰할 수 있었다. 그리고 그동안 자신을 억압하고 있었던 감정들이 반응작업의 재경험을 통해 완화되고 치료되는 것도 경험할 수 있었다. 이것은 연구자의 무의식의 욕구들을 의식적으로 알아차리게 하는 한편 억압되었던 감정을 해소하고 편안함과 안정감을 찾을 수 있도록 하는 미술치료의 경험이었다. 아울러 본 연구는 초보미술치료사가 미술치료를 더욱 신뢰하게 되었고, 자신에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 타인에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있는 토대를 마련하였다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
This study was the inquiry into the encountering self experience of a novice art therapist, through examining previously created paintings and responsive art, perceiving the need for self-reflection and self-exploration. 12 pieces of past artworks of the therapist who created for 8 years, were collected, 5 artworks produced by responsive art were selected, and the researcher tried to meditate on them. artworks and notes of the therpaist were reinterpreted and explored with a new perspective to answer questions in personal analysis. So, the narrative research method, a qualitative research method, was applied. While conducting this inquiry process, the researcher gained an insight through recognizing the expressed self in the past artworks. In addition, the researcher was able to experience that supressed emotions were alleviated and cured through the re-experiencing responsive artworks. This art therapy experience made the researcher consciously aware of the unconscious needs, while relieving suppressed emotions, and finding comfort and stability. At the same time, this study led the novice art therapists to trust art therapy and understand others more based on understanding of the self. On the basis of these contents, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed.
