민요시를 노래한 안기영 가곡 - 시와 음악의 상관관계를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 한국 근대 초기 가곡 연구의 일환으로 안기영의 가곡을 분석하였다. 초기 근대가곡은 서양문물의 유입으로 서양음악과 형식에 영향을받았다. 뿐만아니라가곡 이전에 불려지던찬송가, 창가그리고동요의 영향을 받는다. 가곡이 발생하는 1920년대는 동요의 부흥시기로 이 시기 활동한 작곡가들은 동요작곡가 이면서 동시에 가곡작곡가 이기도 하였다. 따라서1920-30년대 가곡 작품들은단순성을 지닌다*. 그러나이는 이 시기 작곡가들은 동요와 구분하여 가곡을 작곡하였으며 특히 안기영은 자신의 가곡집에 동요, 민요, 예술가곡으로 분류하였다. 필자는 이러한 점에 주목하여 안기영 가곡에서 보여진 예술성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 안기영은 1920년대에는 일제강점기 문단의 상황과 맞물려 민요의 특징을 갖는 정형시 형식의 민요시를 가사로 한다. 안기영은 이러한 민요시의 운율과 연관하여 음악의 형식이 나타났으며, 또한 시의 내용에 따라 다양한 음악의 요소들 그 중에서도 조성, 빠르기 들을 사용하여 표현하고자 하였다. 이는 작곡가 안기영이 초창기 가곡을 작곡함에 있어서 그 동요와는 다른 예술성을 추구하여 예술가곡으로의 정체성을 찾아가고자 하였음을 보여준다.

This study analyzed Ahn Ki-young[An Kiyŏng]'s art songs as part of the study of art songs in the early modern era of Korea. Early modern art songs in Korea were influenced by Western music and its forms due to the influx of Western culture. They were also influenced by hymns, songs, and children's songs that existed before that. Children's songs in Korea experienced a revival in the 1920s when songwriting became prominent. Consequently, composers composed art songs as well as children's songs. Therefore, the art songs of the 1920s and 30s had the same simplicity as children's songs. However, composers distinguished their compositions from children's songs. Ahn Ki-young, in particular, classified his collection of songs into children's songs, folk songs, and art songs. Focusing on this aspect, I studied the artistic qualities of Ahn Ki-young's art songs. His art songs feature Korean folk poems as lyrics. These folk poems possess the characteristics of traditional Korean folk songs and have a fixed poetic form. Ahn Ki-young structured the songs in connection with the rhyme patterns found in these folk poems. Furthermore, he composed the art songs using musical elements such as key and tempo that corresponded to the content of the poem. Thus, it can be observed that Ahn Ki-young pursued artistic expression differently from children's songs in early modern Korean music. In other words, this demonstrates his endeavor to establish the unique identity of an artist's song in korea.
