중학생의 기후변화 동아리 활동이 기후변화 대응 실천 역량과 생태시민성 함양에 미치는 영향

The Impact of Activities on Cultivation of Action Competence on Climate Change and Ecological Citizenship in Middle School Climate Change Club

이 연구는 중학생을 대상으로 기후변화 동아리 활동이 기후변화 대응 실천 역량과 생태시민성에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는가를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구를 위하여 교수⋅학습 활동에서 기록하고 수집한 관찰일지, 활동 결과물 및 심층 인터뷰를 통하여 기후변화 대응 실천 역량과 생태시민성을 중심으로 학생들의 생각을 분석하였다. 연구대상은 경상북도 농촌 지역 중학생 10명이다. 본 연구에서 알아낸 주요 연구 결과를 크게 기후변화 대응 실천 역량과 생태시민성으로 나누어 정리하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 기후변화 대응 실천 역량과 관련된 분석 결과를 보면, 동아리 활동을 통해 학생들은 기후변화와 탄소 중립 개념 이해 향상, 기후변화에 대한 감수성 증가, 기후변화 활동에 대한 성찰 능력 증가, 통합적 사고 능력 향상, 의사소통 능력 향상, 의사 결정 능력 향상, 기후변화 완화 활동 실천 의지 향상 등을 보여주었다. 둘째, 생태시민성 관련 분석 결과를 보면, 기후변화와 관련된 책임의식 향상, 환경에 대한 책임을 다하는 정의감 향상, 실천의 지속 가능성 향상, 기후변화 완화 활동에 대한 참여 의식 향상 등을 보여주고 있다. 전체적으로 기후변화 동아리 활동은 학생들의 기후변화 대응 실천 역량을 한층 더 끌어올리는데 긍정적 이었으며, 실천적 삶을 바탕에 둔 생태시민성에 긍정적 영향을 끼치고 있음을 알 수 있다.

The aim of this study is to determine how climate change club activities for middle school students affect their action competence on climate change and ecological citizenship. The perspectives of students on action competence on climate change and ecological citizenship were analyzed using observation journals, activity results, and in-depth interviews recorded and collected from teaching and learning activities. This study involved 10 middle school students from the rural areas of Gyeongsangbuk-do. The primary research findings are classified based on the responses analyzed. The analysis results of the action competence on climate change showed improved understanding of climate change and carbon neutral concepts, sensitivity to climate change, reflection on climate change activities, integrated thinking, communication behavior, and willingness to practice climate change mitigation activities. Further, the analysis results of ecological citizenship showed improved responsibility for climate change, justice for the environment, sustainability of practice, and awareness of participation in climate change mitigation activities. Thus, the climate change club activities positively enhanced the action competence of the students on climate change and had a positive effect on ecological citizenship in daily life.
