생활 속 에너지 주제 온라인 가상실험실 수업의 효과성 분석 -소외지역 중학생들을 대상으로-

Analysis of the Effectiveness of Online Virtual-Laboratory Classes on Energy Topics in Daily Life -For Middle School Students in Underprivileged Areas-

이 연구는 중학생에게 생활 속 에너지를 주제로 하는 온라인 가상실험실 프로그램을 수업에 적용하여 프로그램 전과 후 학생들의 과학 긍정 경험 지표의 하위 요인 중 과학학습정서, 과학관련 자아개념, 과학학습동기, 과학관련 진로포부, 과학관련 태도에 차이를 보이는지와 온라인 가상실험실 프로그램을 적용한 실험반 학생들과 비교반 학생들의 차이를 비교해 보고자 하였다. 이 연구의 표집대상은 경기도 소외지역 중학교 2개교 중 온라인 가상실험실 콘텐츠 활용 교사 연수를 이수한 교사가 담당하는 과학 교과의 학생들을 대상으로 온라인 가상실험실 프로그램 적용 전과 후, 프로그램 적용 후 시점의 비교반 학생들에게 동일한 과학긍정경험 설문조사를 실시하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 중학생들의 과학학습정서, 과학관련 자아개념, 과학학습동기, 과학관련 진로포부, 과학관련 태도 변인 간 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 또한, 실험반의 온라인 가상실험실 프로그램 적용 전과 후의 과학긍정경험을 비교한 결과, 모든 하위 요인에서 유의한 향상을 보였다. 온라인 가상실험실 프로그램을 적용한 실험반과 그렇지 않은 비교반 학생들의 과학긍정경험을 비교한 결과 과학학습정서 하위 요인을 제외한 나머지 요인(과학관련 자아개념, 과학학습동기, 과학관련 진로포부, 과학관련 태도)에서 실험반이 비교반보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구 결과를 토대로 볼 때, 수업에서 중학생들에게 온라인 가상 실험실 프로그램이 효과가 있는 것으로 나타나 향후 다양한 영역의 온라인 가상 실험실 프로그램의 개발 및 학교 현장 적용이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

In this study, an online virtual-laboratory program based on a theme named “energy in life” was organized for middle school students to analyze the differences in self-concepts, motivation toward scientific learning, science-related career aspirations, and science-related attitudes of the students before and after undergoing the program. For this purpose, two middle schools in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, were selected based on the applications from teachers who completed online virtual-laboratory content education programs for teachers in underprivileged areas. There was a significant positive correlation between middle school students’ feelings regarding science learning, science-related self-concepts, motivation toward scientific learning, science-related career aspirations, and science-related attitude. Further, the comparison results of the students’ experiences before and after undergoing the online virtual-laboratory program revealed that all aforementioned factors were meaningfully improved. The experimental class exhibited greater improvement in terms of the aforementioned factors as compared to traditional classes. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that online virtual-laboratory programs are effective for middle school students, and hence, they need to be developed in various fields and organized in schools in future.
