정보화 사회에서 박물관은 데이터의 중요성을 인식하고 소장품 디지털 아카이브 구축에 집중하고 있다. 현행 박물관 소장품 디지털 아카이브는 온라인에서 실물 아카이브를 열람할 수 있도록, 디지털 사본을 보관하는 저장소 역할에 충실하다. 개방과 공유를 지향하는 온라인 공간에서의 박물관 소장품 디지털 아카이브는 실물 자료를 디지털화(Digitalization of Archival Materials)’하여 보존하는 동시에 이용자들의 자유로운 접근과 이용에 목적을 두어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 디지털 아카이브를 ‘메타 아카이브(Meta-Archive)’라는 개념에서 살펴보고자 한다. 시맨틱 웹(Semantic Web) 개념에 기반한 메타 아카이브 구축은 박물관 디지털 전시․교육분야에서 소장품 데이터가 지속 가능한 자원으로 활용될 수 있는 방안이 될 수 있다.
In the information age, museums recognize the importance of data and focus on building digital archives for collections. The current museum digital archive is an online repository that holds digital copies of the original archive. However, the original digital archive is a web archive that runs in an online space for the purpose of opening and sharing. In other words, digital archives aim to digitize and preserve real data while free access and use by users. In this study, we would like to review these digital archives as a meta-archive concept. Meta archive construction based on the semantic web concept can be a way for collection data to be utilized as a sustainable resource.
