Study on Effect of Principal's Transformational Leadership

초등학교 학교장의 변혁적 지도성이 수학성취도에 미치는 영향에 대해서 살펴보고 수학성취도에 영향을 주는 주요 학생학습전략변인과 학교문화변인에 학교장의 변혁적 지도성이 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 분석결과 학교장의 변혁적 지도성이 수학성취도에는 통계적으로 유의하계 직접적인 영향을 주지는 못하는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이는 선행연구 중에서 일반적인 학교장의 지도성이 성취도에 영향을 주지 못한다는 성기선(2000)의 연구와 유사한 결론을 보여주고 있다. 한편 통제전략, 교사열의, 경쟁적 학습문화에 학교장의 변혁적 지도성이 통계적으로 유의하게 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타나고 있었다. 이는 학교장의 변혁적 지도성이 이들 변인에 영향을 줌으로서 학업성취도 향상에 간접적으로 영향을 줄 수 있음을 시사해주고 있다. 따라서 향후 학교장의 변혁적 지도성이 학교문화와 교사열의 등에 미치는 영향에 대한 후속 연구를 통해서 간접효과 분석이 지속적으로 이루어질 필요성이 있을 것이다.

This article investigates the effect of principal's transformational leadership on mathematics achievement and on variables of students' study strategy and school culture which have an effect on the math achievement. Result shows that principal's transformational leadership does not have a significant effect on the math achievement. This result is similar to that reported in Sung(2000) which shows that principal's general leadership does not have an effect on student achievement. On the other hand, principal's transformational leadership has an positive and significant effect on students' control strategy, teacher's moral, and competitive study culture. This implies that principal's transformational leaderslup would have an indirect effect on student achievement through these variables. Thus, it will be necessary to study indirect effect of principal's transformational leadership on student achievement through teacher's moral and school culture.
