놀이중심 교육과정 운영 지원에 관한 유아교사의 경험 및 요구

Early Childhood Teachers’ Experiences and Needs for Support in Implementing a Play-based Curriculum

본 연구는 2019 개정 누리과정 도입 이후, 놀이중심 교육과정 운영 지원에 관하여 유아교사의 경험은 어떠하며, 어떠한 요구를 가졌는지를 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 다양한 유형의 교육기관에서 근무하는 만 3-5세 담임을 맡은 유아교사 6명이 본 연구에 참여하였다. 교사 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였고, 일반적 질적 자료 분석을 통해 연구결과를 도출하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아교사들은 놀이중심 교육과정 운영지원을 위한 연수, 기관 내·외 교수학습공동체, 기관 내 비공식적 멘토링을 경험하였는데, 근무기관의 유형과 경력에 따라 경험이 다소 다르게 나타났다. 둘째, 유아교사는 놀이중심 교육과정 운영 지원을 위해 원장 연수의 강화, 놀이에 대한 부모 인식 개선, 교사 맞춤형 배움 지원, 놀이시간을 위한 특별활동 최소화, 놀이 자료 지원, 보조 인력 지원에 대한 요구가 있었다. 본 연구결과는 유아교사가 놀이중심 교육과정 운영에 관한 유아교사의 경험을 이해하고, 현실적으로 필요한 교사의 요구를 살펴봄으로써 교사의 전문성 증진 및 교육과정 운영 지원 방안을 모색하는데 기초자료를 제공할 수 있다.

This study aimeds to explore early childhood teachers’ experiences and support needs in implementing a play-based curriculum after the introduction of the 2019 Revised Nuri Curriculum in South Korea. Six teachers of 3-5-year-olds working in different types of educational institutions participated in this study. Data were collected through teacher interviews, and a general qualitative data analysis was used to derive the findings. First, early childhood teachers experienced training, internal and external teaching practices, learning communities, and informal mentoring within their institutions to support the implementation of a play-based curriculum. However, their experiences varied somewhat depending on the type of institution they worked in and their years of experience. Second, the teachers requested enhanced training for directors, increased parental awareness of play, personalized learning support for teachers, minimization of extracurricular activities during playtime, access to play materials, and assistance for the support staff. The findings of this study provide a basis for understanding early childhood teachers’ experiences in implementing a play-based curriculum and exploring their realistic needs to support their professional development and curriculum implementation.
