The purpose of this study is to find a way for teachers with high experience to effectively prepare for retirement while performing a meaningful teaching career by participating in a training course by using the concept of ‘Proactive Career Behavior.’ The concept of ‘Proactive Career Behavior’ refers to behaviors in which individuals, not organizations, lead career development through career planning, career counseling, skill acquisition, and networking for individuals’ psychological satisfaction. To this end, this study analyzed the retirement preparation job training courses for teachers scheduled to retire conducted by offices of education, and suggested improvement directions based on the concept of Proactive Career Behavior. This study find that retirement preparation training courses for teachers scheduled to retire conducted by offices of education required the following changes to support the concept of proactive career behavior. It is desirable to start retirement preparation training with 5 or 10 years of teachers’ retirement ahead. In addition, it is necessary to help teachers with high careers individually identify the characteristics of their careers and establish their career plans. In addition, it is necessary to have opportunities of career counseling from retired teachers and experts, and to help teachers with high careers acquire skills and knowledge to develop their careers or to find a job they want after their retirement. In addition, it is necessary to provide opportunities to form a network with people with similar interests before retirement for teachers with high experiences.
