발달장애자녀 어머니의 사회적 지지가 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 매개효과

The Effect of Social Support for Mothers of Children with Developmental Disabilities on Parenting Stress: Mediated Effects of Self-Esteem

본 연구는 발달장애자녀 어머니의 사회적 지지가 양육스트레스에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고, 사회적 지지와 양육스트레스와의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 제주지역 소재 발달장애 관련 시설을 이용하는 발달장애자녀 어머니 208명의 자료를 최종분석에 사용하여 기술통계분석, 상관관계분석, 위계적 회귀분석, Sobel test 등을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 발달장애자녀 어머니의 사회적 지지와 자아존중감은 양육스트레스에 통계적으로 유의한 부적(-) 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 지지와 양육스트레스 사이에서 매개변수인 자아존중감은 완전매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 발달장애자녀 어머니의 양육스트레스를 감소시키기 위한 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

This study tried to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between social support and parenting stress for mothers of children with developmental disabilities. Data were collected from 208 mothers of children with developmental disabilities utilizing developmental disability-related facilities in Jeju. We conducted descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, sobel test, etc. The results of the study showed that social support and self-esteem of mothers of children with developmental disabilities had a statistically significant negative effect on parenting stress. and the full mediating effect of self-esteem was found in the relationship between social support and parenting stress. Based on these results, practical implications to reduce parenting stress in mothers of children with developmental disabilities were suggested.
