아동권리 기반 다양성 교육 프로그램의 효과

Effectiveness of Children’s Rights-based Diversity Education Program

본 연구에서는 초등학생을 대상으로 아동권리 기반 다양성 교육 프로그램을 진행하고 이후 학생들의 아동권리 인식, 다양성 인식(일반, 가족, 성고정관념) 및 반차별(인종, 장애) 의식에 어떠한 변화를 가져오는지를 확인하였다. 총 210명의 학생이 연구에 참여하였으며, 이 중 106명은 프로그램에 참여한 실험군이었고, 104명은 프로그램에 참여하지 않은 비교군이었다. 실험군과 비교군 간 사전 사후 점수 차이를 반복측정 공분산분석을 통해 확인한 결과, 학생의 성별, 나이, 다문화가정 여부, 센터경험 및 아동권리 교육 사전 경험을 통제하고, 아동권리 인식(Wilk’s lambda=0.933, p < .001)과 성고정관념(Wilk’s lambda=0.978, p = .034)의 점수변화와 집단(실험군, 비교군) 간 상호작용이 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로 대응표본 t 검증을 통해 각 집단에서 사전 사후 점수 변화를 확인한 결과, 실험군에서만 아동권리 인식(t=5.807, p < .001)과 다양성 일반(t=3.095, p=.003), 가족 다양성(t=2.468, p=.015), 인종에 대한 반차별 의식(t=2.282, p=.024)이 유의한 증가를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 아동권리 기반 다양성 교육 프로그램이 학생들의 아동권리 인식과 다양성 인식, 반차별 의 식을 높여 긍정적 변화를 이끄는 데 효과적으로 역할할 수 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 본 프로그램은 현장에 적용하기에 적합하며, 교육자들이 유연하고 효과적으로 다문화 교육을 시행하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

This study investigated the changes in perception of children's rights, diversity (general, family, and gender stereotypes), and anti-discrimination (race and disability) after conducting children's rights-based diversity education for elementary school students. Of 210 students, 106 who participated in the program were from the experimental group and 104 who did not participate in the program were from the control group. After controlling the student's gender, age, multicultural family status, local child center experience, and prior experience of child rights education, repeated measure analysis of covariance showed that the interactions between the pre- and post- scores changed with the perception of children’s rights (Wilk’s lambda=0.933, p<.001) and gender stereotypes (Wilk’s lambda=0.978, p=.034), and were significant. In addition, the paired t test showed that only the experimental group showed significant changes in the perception of children's rights (t=5.807, p<.001), general diversity (t=3.095, p=.003), family diversity (t=2.468, p=.015), and anti-discrimination on race (t=2.282, p=.024). The results of this study show that rights-based diversity education played an influential role in leading positive changes in students' perception of children's rights, diversity, and anti-discrimination perception. Therefore, the program is suitable for application to the diversity education field and will contribute to the flexible and effective implementation of multicultural education by educators.
