다문화가정 서포터즈로 활동하는 결혼이주여성들의 임파워먼트 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

A Phenomenological Study on the Empowerment Experiences of Marriage Migrant Women Working as Multicultural Family Supporters

본 연구에서는 다문화가정 서포터즈로 활동하고 있는 결혼이주여성들의 임파워먼트 경험을 심층적으로 탐색하였다. 자료 수집을 위해 다문화가정 서포터즈로 활동 중인 5명의 결혼이주여성들을 대상으로 반 구조화된 인터뷰를 진행하고, 인터뷰 자료를 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 52개의 하위구성요소와 11개의 구성요소 그리고 최종적으로 3개의 주제가 도출되었다. 참여자들은 다문화가정 서포터즈 활동을 통해 자신의 존재 가치를 인식하고 내적인 성장을 이루면서 개인적 임파워먼트가 향상되는 경험을 하였다. 또한, 대인관계에서는 자신의 주체성을 유지하면서 상호 대등한 관계에서 타인과 협력할 수 있게 되면서 임파워먼트를 경험하였다. 나아가, 서포터즈 활동을 통해 공동체에 대한 책임 의식이 커지면서 도움을 필요로 하는 이웃들을 적극적으로 돕는 등 지역사회에서도 높은 수준의 임파워먼트를 보여주었다. 본 연구는 서포터즈 활동을 통해 자발적이고 주체적인 삶을 설계하고 타인에게 긍정적인 영향력을 행사하며 임파워먼트를 증대시켜 나아가는 결혼이주여성들의 삶을 조명함으로써 그들을 수동적인 돌봄의 수혜자로 바라보는 기존의 고정관념과 편견이 수정될 필요가 있음을 보여주었다.

In this study, we explored in-depth the empowerment experiences of marriage immigrant women who are working as multicultural family supporters. For data collection, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 5 marriage immigrant women who are currently working as multicultural family supporters, and analyzed the interview data using Giorgi’s phenomenological research procedure. As a result of data analysis, 52 subcomponents, 11 components, and ultimately 3 themes were identified. Participants experienced personal empowerment by recognizing their own worth and achieving inner growth through their activities as multicultural family supporters. In interpersonal relationships, they experienced empowerment by maintaining their own agency and cooperating with others in equal relationships. Furthermore, they showed a high level of empowerment in the local community, actively helping neighbors who needed assistance and becoming more responsible for the community through their activities as supporters. This study demonstrates the need to revise existing stereotypes and prejudices that view marriage immigrant women as passive recipients of care by shedding light on their lives as active agents who design their own voluntary and self-directed lives, exercise positive influence on others, and increase their own empowerment through their work as supporters.
