다문화 배경 KSL 학습자 대상 한국어교육을 위한 주요 문식성 유형 연구

A Study on Literacy Types of Korean Language Education for Multicultural KSL Students

본고의 목적은 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학교 다문화 배경 KSL 학습자 대상 한국어교육과 관련하여 교육 내용으로서 문식성 유형을 선정하고 각각의 문식성의 성격과 특징을 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 문식성 개념의 변화와 외연 확장 양상을 언급한 후 그간 이루어져 온 국내 문식성 연구 성과를 살펴보았다. 언어교육 맥락에서의 문식성 유형 관련 논의를 검토하여 시기별 연구의 경향과 특징, 변화 방향 등을 기술하였고, 이를 바탕으로 문식성 연구분야의 주요 논점을 추출하여 논의하였다. 이러한 국내외 논저 고찰과 주요 논점 파악 및 논의 과정을 기반으로 초ㆍ중ㆍ고 다문화 배경 KSL 학습자 대상 한국어교육에 도입해야 할 주요 문식성 유형을 선정하였다. 기본 문식성, 학업 문식성, 다문화 문식성, 비판적 문식성, 매체 문식성, 정서적 문식성이 그것이다. 이들 문식성 유형의 성격을 각각 규명하고 KSL 교육의 맥락에서 고려해야 할 점과 방향성 등에 대해 논의하였다. 이 연구는 일상적 의사소통은 물론이고 학문적 소통의 맥락에 놓여 있는 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학교 다문화 배경 학습자를 대상으로 한 KSL 교육 분야에 문식성의 개념을 도입하여 교육 내용을 선정하고 논의하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 각 문식성 유형의 성격과 하위 구성요소 규명과 체계화가 후속 연구로 이어져야 할 것이다.

This study tries to extract and conceptualize literacy types of Korean language education for KSL students who have multicultural background. To this end, this study reviews the domestic trends of literacy research and discusses major issues of studies. Reflecting this discussion, this study chooses major literacy types that are needed to adopt for Korean language education; basic literacy, academic literacy, multicultural literacy, critical literacy, media literacy, and emotional literacy. With these categorization, this study clarifies the characteristics of each literacy type, discusses educational considerations and future direction of literacy development from the context of Korean language education. This study argues introduction of literacy concept to the field of KSL education for students with multicultural backgrounds who are in the social contexts which would be a mixture of daily communication and academic communication. The study also suggests follow-up studies and those should deal with clarifications and systematization of sub-component of each literacy type.
