활동보조서비스를 이용하는 성인 중도 뇌병변장애인의 AAC 사용 및 자기결정에 대한 경험 및 지원 요구

Experiences and Support Needs for AAC Use and Self-Determination in Adults with Cerebral Palsy using Personal Assistant Service

배경 및 목적: 본 연구에서는 중도 뇌병변장애인의 AAC 사용과 자기결정에 대한 경험 및 인식을 조사함으로써, 이들의 자기결정 향상을 위한 지원 요구 및 후속 연구의 방향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 방법: AAC를 사용하는 중도 뇌병변장애인과 그들을 지원하는 활동보조인 총 8명을 대상으로 개별면담과 서면을 통해 진행되었다. 결과: 그 결과 5개의 대주제 및 16개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 논의 및 결론: 자기결정능력은 의사소통 능력과 밀접하게 관련이 있으므로 AAC를 사용하는 중도의 뇌병변장애인의 자기결정 증진을 위해서는 AAC에 대한 지원이 필수적이며, 잠재적 대화상대자의 AAC에 대한 인식개선과 자기결정의 중요성에 대한 교육이 필요하다 하겠다.

Background and Objective: This study investigated the experiences and perceptions of AAC use and self-determination among people with severe cerebral palsy, to examine their needs for support for improvement of self-determination and the direction of follow-up studies. Method: 4 persons with severe cerebral palsy using AAC and 4 personal assistants were individually interviewed. Results: As a result, 5 major topics and 16 subtopics were derived. Conclusion: Since self-determination ability is closely related to communication ability, support for AAC is essential for improving self-determination of people with severe cerebral palsy using AAC. So, education on the importance of self-determination is necessary.
