상실 경험 중년의 향유신념과 역경 후 성장의 관계에서 삶의 의미추구와 의미 발견의 매개효과

The Mediating Effects of Meaning-Searching and Meaning-Presence on the Relationship Between Savoring and Posttraumatic Growth in iddle-Aged Adults with Loss and Adversity

본 연구는 중년을 대상으로 상실과 역경을 경험한 후에도 긍정적으로 변화하게 하는 심리적자원이 무엇인지 탐색하고자 하였다. 이에 다양한 상실을 경험한 중년기 성인들의 향유신념과 역경 후성장 간 관계를 설명할 수 있는 심리적 기제로 삶에 대한 의미추구와 의미발견의 순차적 매개효과를 검증하였다. 상실의 충격과 고통의 심각도가 컸던 만 40-64세 중년기 성인 264명(남 134명, 여 130명)을대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하고, 기술통계, 상관분석, 그리고 구조방정식을 이용한 이중매개모형을 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 주요 변인들 간 상관이 모두 정적으로 유의하였으며, 향유신념은 역경 후 성장을 직접적으로 예측하였다. 또한 향유신념과 역경 후 성장의 관계에서 의미추구와 의미발견의 단순매개효과와 이중매개효과가 모두 유의하였다. 본 연구는 다양한 상실을 경험하는 중년들이 긍정적인 경험에주의를 기울이고 삶에 대한 의미를 추구하며 발견하는 순차적인 과정을 통해 역경 후 성장에 이를 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 중년기 성인들이 상실이라는 역경 경험을 극복하고 적응적인 노년기준비를 위한 개입 전략을 모색하기 위한 기초를 마련했다는 데 의의가 있다.

This study aims to examine whether the relationship between savoring and posttraumatic growth is mediated by meaning of life (meaning-searching and mean-ing-presence). For this purpose, middle-aged adults aged 40 to 64 years (134 males and 130 females) who have suffered participated in the study. All variables in the research model were positively correlated. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), a dual medi-ation model was analyzed. The relationship between savoring and posttraumatic growth was mediated by meaning-searching and meaning-presence, respectively. Additionally, the dual mediating effect of meaning-searching and meaning-presence proved to be significant. This study presents significant findings that offer initial insights into potential interventions for middle-aged adults who encountered losses, thus aiming to help them overcome adversity and to promote healthy aging.
