아버지의 결혼만족도가 아동의 행복감에 미치는 영향: 아버지의 양육행동과 아동의 자아존중감의 매개효과

Fathers’ Marital Satisfaction and Children’s Happiness: The Mediating Effect of the Father’s Parenting Behavior and Children’s Self-Esteem

본 연구는 아버지의 결혼만족도가 아동인 자녀의 행복감에 미치는 영향에서 아버지의 양육행동(긍정,부정)과 아동의 자아존중감의 순차적 매개효과를 파악하기 위하여 수행되었다. 분석을 위하여 육아정책연구소의 한국아동패널 10차, 11차년도 1,050개의 아버지와 아동 데이터를 활용하였다. 변인 간 구조관계 확인을 위하여 SEM(Structural Equation Modeling) 기법을 사용하였고, 매개효과 확인을 위하여 부스트래핑(bootstrapping) 절차를 거쳤다. 분석결과, 연구문제 중 아버지의 결혼만족도와 행복감의 경로에서 부정양육행동과 자아존중감에 대한 순차적 매개경로가 유의미했으며 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아버지의 결혼만족도는 아동의 행복감에 다양한 경로를 통하여 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자아존중감은 행복감에 영향을 미치는 가장 강력한 요인이었다. 셋째, 양육행동의 경우 긍정 양육행동은 행복감에 직접 영향을 미치는 반면, 부정 양육행동은 자아존중감을 매개로 행복감에 간접 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로, 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 주요 논의사항을 정리하고 이후 아동의 행복감 제고를 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

Objectives: This study examined the mediating effect of a father’s parenting behavior (positive, negative) and children’s self-esteem within the effect of the father’s marital satisfaction on children’s happiness. Method: For the analysis, a sequential mediating model was applied using 1,050 data points from the 10th and 11th years of the Panel Study of Korean Children. Results: The sequential mediating pathways for negative parenting behaviors and self-esteem were significant in the path of the father’s marital satisfaction and children’s happiness. Conclusions: First, the father’s marital satisfaction was a factor influencing children’s happiness through various channels. Second, self-esteem was found to be the most powerful factor affecting happiness. Third, positive parenting behavior was shown to have a direct effect on children’s happiness, while negative parenting behavior was shown to have an indirect effect through the child’s self-esteem.
