대중교통을 이용하는 발달장애인의 이동경험에 관한 사례연구

A Case Study on the experiences of people with developmental disabilities using the public transportation

본 연구는 발달장애인의 대중교통을 이용한 이동경험에 대한 주관적 경험의 이해와 탐색을 목적으로 사례연구를 실시하였다. 대중교통을 이용한 이동경험이 있는 발달장애인 8명을 대상으로 개별심층 인터뷰를 실시하였다. Creswell의 사례연구 접근방법에 따라 사례 내 분석과 사례 간 분석을 통해 사례별 개인의 경험을 이해하고 이를 바탕으로 사례 간 공통주제를 도출하였다. 연구의 결과로 연구참여자들의 개별적인 경험으로부터 '주체적으로 선택한 경험', '도움이 되는 것', '편안하거나 불편한 것', '불편한 장벽들', '이동수단에서 사회참여로' 라는 5가지 공통주제가 드러났다. 발달장애인이 사회활동에 참여하면서 이용하게 되는 대중교통은 단순한 이동수단을 넘어 완전한 사회참여를 할 수 있도록 하는 매개체 역할을 한다. 발달장애인에게 맞춤화된 이동권 보장을 위한 정책적, 실천적 함의점을 제시하였다.

This study conducted a case study to understand and explore the subjective experiences of people with developmental disabilities while using public transportation. In this qualitative study, individual in-depth interviews were conducted with eight people with developmental disabilities who have been experiences using public transportation. Following Creswell's case study approach, the researchers analyzed each case separately(within-case analysis) and compared them(cross-case analysis) to identify common themes. The study revealed five common topics derived from the participants's individual experiences: ‘Experience of subjective choice’, ‘Helpfulness’, ‘Comfortable or Uncomfortable’, ‘Uncomfortable barriers’, ‘Beyond transportation to social participation’. The findings indicated that public transportation plays a crucial role in enabling full social participation for people with developmental disabilities, going beyond its basic function of transportation. Based on these results, this study suggested policy and practical implications to ensure customized mobility rights for people with developmental disabilities.
