고령 지체장애인의 경제활동 경험에 관한 연구

A Study on the Economic Activity Experience of the Elderly with Physical Disabilities

본 연구는 고령 지체장애인의 경제활동 경험을 탐색하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 20년 이상 경제활동에 참여하고 있는 55세 이상의 고령 지체장애인 총 5명을 대상으로 경제활동 과정에서 발생한 다양한 경험에 초점을 두고 심층 면담을 진행하였다. 연구 결과 고령 지체장애인들의 경제활동 경험의 구조는 5개의 상위범주와 13개의 하위범주로 도출되었다. 5개의 상위범주는 <나누는 기쁨>, <차별에 대한 분노>, <고령으로 인한 내일에 대한 두려움>, <아쉬운 삶의 조각들>, <소통과 행복>으로 나타났다. 고령의 지체장애인이 장애와 고령이라는 이중적 어려움 속에서도 경제활동을 지속하게 된 공통적인 요인은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경제활동은 사회구성원으로서 자신의 역할을 해나가면서 함께 성장해 나갈 수 있었던 소통의 공간이었다. 둘째, 경제활동은 노후를 준비할 수 있었다는 부분에서 심리적 안정감을 주었으며 일에 대한 성취감과 사회적 소속감을 통해 행복을 경험할 수 있었던 자아실현의 시간이었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 고령화 시대를 살아가는 고령장애인들이 경제활동을 통해 성공적이고 안정적인 노후생활을 준비해 나갈 수 있도록 고령장애인의 경제활동 활성화 방안을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the economic activity experiences of elderly people with physical disabilities. To this end, an in-depth interview was conducted with a total of five elderly people physically disabled people aged 55 or older who have been participating in economic activities for more than 20 years, focusing on various experiences that occurred in the course of economic activities. As a result of the study, the structure of the economic activity experience of the elderly people with physical disabilities was derived into five upper categories and 13 lower categories. The five top categories were <The Joy of Sharing>, <Anger at Discrimination>, <Fear of Tomorrow due to Age>, <Regretting Past Days>, and <Communication and Happiness>. The common factors that led elderly people with physical disabilities to continue their economic activities despite the double difficulties of disability and old age are as follows. First, economic activities were a space for communication that allowed them to grow together while playing their role as members of society. Second, economic activities gave a sense of psychological stability in that they could prepare for retirement, and it was a time of self-realization to experience happiness through a sense of accomplishment and social belonging to work. Based on the results of these studies, a plan was proposed to revitalize the economic activities of the elderly people with disabilities so that the elderly people with disabilities living in the aging era can prepare for a successful and stable retirement life through economic activities.
