지속 가능한 유-초 전이 지원을 위한 유아교육 내 ‘경첩의 공간’ 사유 고찰

A Reflection on ‘Hinge Space’ in Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Support in the Transition to Primary Education

본 연구는 유아교육과 초등교육의 지속 가능한 연계를 실현하기 위해 한국 유아교육이 나아가야 할 미래 방향을 제안하고자 동양 사상가인 장자의 ‘경첩(Hinge)’ 개념과 서구의 철학자인 들뢰즈의 ‘문지방(Threshold)’ 개념을 융합하여 유-초 전이 지원을 위한 혁신적 사유의 필요성을 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 ‘경첩과 문지방’ 개념의 본질이 제시하는 한국 유아교육의 미래는 유아교육의 가치지속성을 높이면서도, 놀이와 학습이라는 현존하는 이분법의 경계를 뛰어넘어서야 한다는 사실을 강조하고자 한다. 본 연구는 유아들이 유아교육기관을 졸업하기 직전 시기를 ‘경첩의 공간(Hinge Space)’으로 제안하며, 초등학교 입학을 앞둔 유아들이 변화된 교육환경 속에서도 안정적인 전이를 경험하기 위하여 유아교육 내 경첩의 공간에서 이루어져야 할 변화와 변혁을 1) 국가수준의 유아교육과정 측면, 2) 전문성을 갖춘 교사 측면, 3) 유아에 관한 종합적인 평가체제 구축 및 연계 측면으로 제시하였다. 이를 통해 유아교육과 초등교육 간의 지속 가능한 교육의 연속성을 원활히 구현하며, 교육의 동등한 출발선은 유아교육에서부터 시작되어야 함을 강조하고자 한다.

This study proposes a future direction for Korean early childhood education to realize a sustainable connection between preschool and primary education. To this end, we have examined the necessity of innovative thinking for supporting the transition from preschool to primary education by integrating the concept of ‘Hinge’ from the Eastern philosopher Zhuangzi and ‘Threshold’ from the Western philosopher, Deleuze. The essence of the ‘Hinge and Threshold’ concept emphasizes that the future of Korean early childhood education must transcend the existing dichotomy of play and learning. This research proposes the period just before children leave kindergarten as the Hinge Space, and suggests changes and transformations that must take place within the ‘Hinge Space’ for young children who are about to enter primary school to experience a stable transition in the changed educational environment. These suggestions are divided into: 1) the content of the national kindergarten curriculum, 2) teachers with expertise, and 3) a comprehensive evaluation system for children at the transitional point from kindergarten to school. Through this, the study aims to smoothly implement sustainable continuity between early childhood and primary education and emphasizes that an equitable starting point in education should begin with early childhood education.
