우리말 문장 부호의 변천 연구(Ⅰ)

A Study on Historical Transition Korean Punctuation Marks(Ⅰ)

본 연구의 목적은 문장 부호가 우리말 어문 규범 중의 하나로 확고한 지위를 자리를 잡을 수 있도록 토대를 마련하고, 문장 부호의 역사적 변천 과정과남한, 북한, 중국(조선어) 등에서 사용하는 문장 부호의 공시적 특징을 밝히고자 한다. 훈민정음 창제 이후에도 문장 부호는 기존의 한문 문헌에서 사용하던것을 그대로 사용하였다. 19세기 말 서양식 문장 부호가 도입되면서 출판 및인쇄물에서 사용되기 시작하였고, 1933년 조선어학회의 <한글 마춤법 통일안>이 발표되어 비로소 우리말 문장 부호의 기준을 마련하였다. 그러나 한반도가분단되고 남한과 북한은 각기 다른 어문 규범으로 개정하면서 독자적인 문장부호가 발전하기에 이르렀다. 현재 한반도를 중심으로 남한, 북한, 중국(조선어)에는 각각 고유의 어문 규범을 가지고 있고, 이에 따라서 문장 부호의 명칭과사용 방법에 차이가 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 배경에서 첫째, 통시적 관점에서문장 부호의 역사적 변천 과정을 분석하였다. 둘째, 공시적 관점에서 가장 최근에 발표한 남한의 2014년, 북한의 2010년, 중국(조선어)의 2016년 개정한 문장 부호의 명칭에 대해서 비교 분석을 하였다. 후속 논문을 통해 남북한과 중국(조선어)의 문장 부호 규범에서 제시한 항목별 정의와 사용 방법의 구체적인비교를 통해 공시적 연구를 추가한다.

The purpose of this study is to establish a solid foundation for Pu nctuation marks to be recognized as an integral part of Korean Ling uistic rules. I would like to clarify the diachronic process of Punctu ation marks and the synchronic characteristics of Punctuation mark s in South-Korean, North-Korean, and Chinese-Korean. Even after t he creation of Hunminjeongeum, the Punctuation marks used in the existing Chinese literature were used as they were. At the end of th e 19th century, with the introduction of Western punctuation marks, it began to be used in publications and prints. In 1933, the Hangeul Society's <Korean Spelling Unification Plan> was announced, and the standards for Punctuation marks were established. However, as the Korean Peninsula was divided, South Korea and North Korea revised to different Linguistic Rules, leading to the development of their Pu nctuation Marks. In a follow-up paper, I will try to compare and an alyze the definition of each item and how to use it presented in the Punctuation marks of South-North Korean and Chinese-Korean.
