삶을 위한 미술교육에서 비주얼 저널 학습모형의 개발과 실행

Visual Journal Learning Model in Art Education for Life

본 연구는 학생들의 삶을 풍요롭게 만들기 위한 미술교육의 한 가지 방안으로 비주얼 저널 학습모형과 이에 기반을 둔 비주얼 저널 교육 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 예술기반연구의 방법론에 따라 실행하고 분석한 연구이다. 이를 위하여, 먼저 삶을 위한 미술교육의 개념과 특징에 관한 문헌연구를 토대로 삶을 위한 미술교육의 핵심 가치와 방향을 제시하였으며, 삶을 위한 미술교육에서 비주얼 저널의 필요성에 관하여 밝혔다. 다음으로, 비주얼 저널 학습 모형(REVISE 모형)과 이를 기반으로 한 17주차의 비주얼 저널 교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 서울시 소재 초등학교 고학년 학생들에게 적용하였으며, 학생들의 비주얼 저널, 탐색적 질문지, 연구일지, 관찰일지, 소통 과정의 전사 기록, 소감문, 사진을 연구자료로 수집하였다. 프로그램 적용 결과 학생들은 삶을 위한 미술교육의 핵심 가치인 ‘삶 속에서의 체험’, ‘자기 이해와 성장’, ‘타인 이해와 소통’, ‘삶의 문제해결’의 실천 측면에서 유의미한 효과가 있었다.

This arts-based research designs and implements a visual journal education program based on visual journal learning model, as one of approach to enrich students' lives. To this end, I suggested the core values and directions of art education for life from literature review about the concepts and characteristics of art education for life. I also argued the necessity of visual journals in art education for life. I developed a visual journal learning model, titled “REVISE” model, and a visual journal education program for 17 weeks. This program was applied to 5th graders in Seoul. I collected students' visual journals, exploratory questionnaires, research journals, observation notes, transcripts of the communication process, reflections, and photos as research data. As a result, students had a significant effect in terms of practicing 'experience in life,' 'self-understanding and growth,' 'understanding and communication with others,' and 'solving problems in life.'
