국내 미술치료 대학원 석, 박사 교과과정 경험에 대한 현상학 연구

The Phenomenological Study on South Korean Graduate Art Therapy Program Experience

본 연구는 국내 미술치료 대학원 석, 박사 교과과정 경험의 본질을 살펴보기 위한 현상학 연구이다. 2023년 1월부터 3월까지 연구자료를 수집했으며, 연구참여자는 국내 대학원 미술치료 전공 석사 졸업 후, 미술치료 전공으로 박사 과정 재학 혹은 수료 및 졸업한 자 총 10명을 모집했다. 연구참여자 2명에 대한 예비 인터뷰를 기반으로 집단 인터뷰를 준비하였고, 연구참여자를 A와 B 두 그룹에 5명씩 배정하여 각 2회의 집단 인터뷰를 줌으로 진행하였다. van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 연구방법으로 분석한 결과, 9개의 본질적 주제와 48개의 하위주제를 도출하였다. 본질적 주제는 ‘가이드가 없는 것이 나를 혼란스럽고 불편하게 하다’, ‘미술과 심리 사이에서 서성거리며 모호함과 마주하다’, ‘임상과 실제를 통한 배움이 더욱 값지다’, ‘미술을 맛보며 비로소 미술의 힘을 알다’, ‘학교에서 동반자를 만나 소속감과 안정감을 느끼다’, ‘교수자들에게 물들며, 기대어 성장하다’, ‘시스템의 한계를 아쉬워하다’, ‘자발적으로 부족함을 채워 넣기 시작하다’, ‘고통 속에서 미술치료 전문가로 성장하다’이다. 본 연구는 국내 미술치료학과의 반성과 발전을 위한 연구로, 교과과정 경험에 과목 구성뿐 아니라 동료 관계, 교수자에 대한 기대가 복합적으로 연관되어 있음을 밝히고, 미술치료학 대학원 준비생에게 유용한 안내 자료가 될 수 있을 것이다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점을 논의하였다.

This study was a phenomenological research aimed at exploring the essence of the experiences of master's and doctoral students in art therapy programs. Data was collected from January to March 2023, involving a total of 10 participants who were either currently enrolled in or had completed their doctoral studies in art therapy after obtaining a master's degree in the field. The study used preliminary interviews with two participants to prepare for group interviews, with five participants assigned to Group A and five to Group B, resulting in two rounds of group interviews for each group. The analysis revealed 9 essential themes and 48 sub-themes. These essential themes included experiences related to the absence of guidance, navigating ambiguity between art and psychology, the value of learning through clinical practice, discovering the power of art through personal engagement, finding a sense of belonging and stability through relationships and support, and personal growth as art therapy professionals. This study contributes to the self-reflection and development of art therapy programs by highlighting the complex interplay of curriculum experiences, peer relationships, and expectations from instructors. The study also discussed its significance and limitations based on these findings.
