국어사 연구의 방향 설정을 위한 斷想

Reflections on the Direction of Korean Language History Research

본 논문에서는 인문학의 위상이 전례 없이 추락한 상황에서 한국어의 역사에 대한 연구와 대학에서의 한국어사 교육을 어떻게 정상화할 것인가라는 화두에 대해 단편적으로 몇 가지 생각을 제시하였다. 첫째, 국어사 연구의 주제에 있어 보편적으로 흥미와 관심을 끌 수 있어야 하고, 둘째, 인접 분야와의 교집합이 될 수 있는 현상을 잘 포착해야 한다. 나아가서 언어를 바라보는 관점에도 변화가 있어야 함을 주장했는데 그 요지는 다음과 같다. 즉 언어가 상호 조율의 수단이며 사회연결망을 타고 조직된다는 점을 고려해 언어를 바라보고 이를 바탕으로 한국어사 연구가 이루어져야 한다. 즉 한국어사 연구는 어떠해야 한다는 식의 소위 전통성 혹은 정통성에 얽매이지 말고, 상호 조율의 수단으로서의 언어라는 관점에서 접근해 주변의 다른 분야들(언어학, 현대 국어 연구, 고전문학, 문화사, 사회학, 인류학 등)과 동기화율을 높여 서로 통할 수 있는 방식의 연구를 활성화할 필요가 있다.

In this paper, we have presented some brief thoughts on the topic of researching the history of the Korean language and recovering the state of Korean language history education in universities in a situation where the status of the humanities has plummeted as never before. Firstly, in terms of the subject of Korean language history research, it should generally be able to attract interest and attention. Secondly, it should capture phenomena that can intersect with adjacent fields effectively. Furthermore, we argued that there should be a change in the perspective on looking at language, with the essence being as follows: namely, considering that language is a means of mutual coordination and is organized through social networks, Korean language history research should be conducted based on this perspective. In other words, rather than being constrained by notions of tradition or orthodoxy, such as how Korean language history research should be conducted, there is a need to activate research in a way that synchronizes with other fields (general linguistics, modern Korean language research, classical literature, cultural history, sociology, anthropology, etc.) and can communicate with each other, viewing language as a means of mutual coordination.
